OC1. Couture Heart Print Tiered Maxi in Silk Chiffon
"My dreses are like Bentleys", said Ossie Clark, "They are quality and last forever". In fact his dresses have probably done way more mileage than the best Bentleys of the era.The chiffons suffered most; being delicate by nature, much loved but esily bruised. Finding a good one today is hard. They were made early in Ossie's career and in small quantities. Geri Spice-Halliwell was photographed very recently in a version of this dress (hers was heart-less) and against the harsh glamour of her band members she seemed sweetly sultry, sexy but innocent too. All of Ossie's favourite fabrics are here; satin shoulders, crepe bodice and gossamer silk chiffon tiers. Celia's prints, romantic and witty......big tattoo hearts in stripey yellows and snaky trails of wildflower and feathers. Sandy Boler, editor of Brides Mag (at the time) felt that "Ossie used crepe and gauze in a way it had never been used before. His cut and Celia's prints were indivisible. They were delicate, divine and utterly desireable." Just like this dress..........
